A free 1 hour timer: sixty minutes count down on the whole screen, with a bell at the end. An hour gives you time for deep work on one hard task, a long workout or one section of a practice exam.
01 An hour
What an hour is for
Some work only moves when you stay with it: a long piece of writing, a hard problem set, a feature in code, a stack of reading. An hour is long enough to get past the slow first minutes and into the task. Turn off notifications, keep only this page and your work open, and decide now what done looks like.
An hour also fits a long run or a class at home, and it is the length of many exam sections. To practice one, sit at a desk with the paper, start the hour and work without a pause until the bell, as on the day. The digits stay readable from across the room.
02 Split it
Longer, shorter, or split in two
Ninety minutes is under the digits for a longer session, and 30 or 45 for a shorter one. To split the hour into two halves, run the 30 minute timer twice; for rounds of focus with breaks between them, there is the 25 minute timer. For any length on a TV or a projector, open the fullscreen timer.

04 FAQ
Questions about the 1 hour timer
Does the hour keep counting if I switch tabs?
Yes. The countdown runs on the clock from the moment you press Start, so another tab or window doesn’t change it, and the bell rings at the end of the hour. On a phone, keep the page open: there the bell may be late, never the time.
Will it keep my screen on?
Yes, where the browser allows it: while the hour runs, the page asks it not to dim or lock the screen. Press F for full screen, and the buttons fade until you move the mouse.
Can I set 90 minutes or two hours?
Yes. 90 minutes is under the digits, and Custom goes up to 10 hours, in steps of 15 minutes past the first hour. The page opens at one hour every time.
Is the 1 hour timer free?
Yes. It needs no account and shows no ads. Every hour you finish is saved in this browser, and the page works offline once you have opened it.
