On your Notion page, type /embed, choose Embed and paste the link. Press Embed link.

Drag the corners of the block until the timer looks right: the digits grow with it. Small suits a short block, Large a big screen.

  4. Press Start

The timer runs right on your page. When a session ends, press Save to my log to add it to your study log.

02 Sites and OBS

On your website or in OBS

For a website, copy the code under the link and paste it into your page, or into the HTML or Embed block of your page builder. The frame takes the width of its column; change the height in the code if you need more room.

For a study stream, turn on the transparent background and copy the link. In OBS, add a Browser source, paste the link as its URL and set its width and height, for example 600 by 300. To start the timer, right-click the source and choose Interact. A few seconds after the start, the buttons of a transparent widget fade out, and the stream shows only the time.

03 Your log

Where your sessions go

Browsers keep a page inside another site apart from the same page opened on its own: they give it storage of its own, or none at all. So a widget in Notion can’t write to the study log you keep on studytally.com, and it doesn’t try. It holds on to the sessions you finish and shows Save to my log; the link opens your log in a new tab, lists the sessions and adds them only when you say so.

On studytally.com itself, the Pomodoro study timer, the fullscreen timer and the stopwatch for studying save every session to your log as it ends.

04 FAQ

Questions about the Notion timer widget

Is the Notion timer widget free?

Yes. The widget, the link and the code are free, with no account and no ads. It is the same timer as on studytally.com, running in a frame on your page, so there is nothing to install or update.

Which timers can I embed?

A Pomodoro timer with your own focus and break lengths, a countdown from 1 minute to 10 hours, a stopwatch that counts up and a clock with the time and the date. Each comes in a light, a dark or an automatic theme that follows your device, and in three sizes.

Does the widget save my study sessions?

Not by itself. Inside Notion or another site, your browser keeps the widget’s data apart from studytally.com, and many browsers keep none of it once you close the page. When a session ends, press Save to my log: your log opens in a new tab and asks before it adds anything.

Does the timer keep running if I leave the page?

It counts from the moment you press Start, so a hidden tab doesn’t change the time. After a reload it carries on only if your browser lets the widget keep data; otherwise it starts over. The bell rings only while the page is open.

Can I use it in OBS for a study stream?

Yes. Turn on the transparent background, add a Browser source with the link and start the timer from the source’s Interact window. Pick the theme that stands out against your scene: the text keeps a soft outline in the theme’s paper color.

How do I change the widget later?

Pick the new options in the builder above and copy the new link. In Notion, delete the old embed and add the new link with /embed; on a website, swap the address in the src of the code. Old links keep working, so a page you haven’t touched stays as it is.

Why does it say studytally.com in the corner?

The small link shows where the timer comes from and opens the full timer on our site, with the tracker and the planners. It is the only thing in the widget besides the timer: no ads, no pop-ups, and no cookies.
