The score you need on the final updates as you type, and the table under it shows what an A, B, C or D takes. Above 100%, that grade is out of reach.

02 By hand
How to calculate what you need on the final
Your class grade is an average of two parts: the grade so far counts for everything but the final, the final for the rest. In the example, the final is worth 30%, so your 84% counts 70%. Solve for the final:
(85 − 84 × 0.7) ÷ 0.3 = 87.3333…
The calculator rounds that up: 87.34% on the final is enough for 85%. With 80% on the final instead, the semester grade is 84% × 0.7 + 80% × 0.3 = 82.8%.
03 Plan
Plan the days before the final
The score you need tells you how hard to push. Spread your review over the days you have with the exam study planner, then time each session with the study timer: short breaks keep a long review day going.
04 FAQ
Questions about the final
What do I need on my final?
It depends on your grade so far, how much the final counts and the grade you want. Enter all three above; to find what you need to pass, enter the lowest passing grade, often 60% or 70%. The calculator rounds the score up, so reaching it is enough.
How do I calculate my semester grade with the final?
Multiply your grade so far by its share and your final exam score by its weight, then add them up. Under What if, the calculator does it for any score.
What if I need more than 100% on the final?
Then the final alone can’t get you there: even a perfect score leaves you short. Ask about extra credit, or aim for the next grade down.
Does it work if the final is worth half my grade?
Yes: the final exam calculator takes any weight from 1% to 100%. The more the final counts, the more it can move your grade, up or down.
My class uses points, not percentages. What do I enter?
Divide your points by the points possible: 176 of 200 is 88%. Do the same for the weight of the final: a 150-point final in a 500-point class is 30%.
