Terms of Use
These terms explain how you may use the free study tools on Study Tally, such as the study timer and the study tracker. By using the site you agree to them, so please read at least the short version.
01 Summary
The short version
- The tools are free for your own studying, and you don’t need an account. An account is optional, for ages 16 and up.
- They’re provided as is. We work hard on them, but can’t promise they will never fail or lose data.
- Your data is your responsibility. It lives in your browser, and in your account if you sign in, so export a backup now and then.
- Play fair. Don’t misuse the site, the email form or the sign-in.
- Paid features will come with their own terms before you pay for anything.

1 Using Study Tally
Study Tally is for students 13 and older. If you are under 18, please go through these terms with a parent or guardian. You may use the tools for your own studying, and teachers and tutors may use them with their students. You don’t need an account to use the tools.
2 Your account
An account is optional and for ages 16 and up. It is yours alone: don’t share your sign-in emails or codes, and sign out on a computer that others use. You sign in with a link and a code we email you, or with Google; keep access to that email address or Google account, since it is the only way to sign in.
An account opens Study Tally Pro in early access. Early access is free, and what it includes may change, pause or end while we work on it; we will say so on the site before anything you rely on goes away. When Pro becomes paid, nothing is charged unless you choose to pay (section 6).
You can delete your account at any time on the Account page. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms (section 4).
3 Your data and backups
Without an account, your study data is stored only in your browser on your device. We don’t have a copy, so we can’t restore it if it is lost. It can disappear if you clear your browser data, use a private window, switch devices or browsers, or if your browser removes stored data on its own. If you sign in, a copy syncs to your account and your other devices, but sync is not a backup: a change or a deletion on one device reaches the others too.
You are responsible for your data and for keeping backups, signed in or not: export it regularly and keep the file somewhere safe. Importing a file merges it into the data on that device, so import only files you trust.
4 Fair use
Please don’t:
- use Study Tally to break the law or anyone’s rights;
- try to disrupt, overload or break into the site, or get around its limits;
- enter email addresses that aren’t yours, sign in to accounts that aren’t yours, or use the email form or the sign-in to send spam;
- copy the site, its design or its text to run a look-alike service. Printing your own plans and sharing links is fine.
We may block access for anyone who does.
5 Provided as is
Study Tally is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. Timers, statistics and plans are study aids: double-check anything important, like an exam date or a deadline. We may change, pause or remove features at any time.
To the extent the law allows, Study Tally is not liable for lost data, data that a sync changed or removed, missed deadlines or any indirect losses that come from using the site or not being able to use it.
6 Paid features
Nothing on Study Tally costs money today, and Pro is free during early access. When Pro becomes paid, its price, what it includes, and its billing and refund terms will be shown before you pay, and these terms will be updated. See Pricing for what Pro will include.
7 Changes and contact
We may update these terms as Study Tally grows. We will post the new version here with a new date and point out important changes on the site.
