Stopwatch for Studying

Not every study session fits into a Pomodoro. This digital stopwatch for studying counts up from the moment you sit down; press Save when you’re done and the time goes straight to your log under the right subject. A large study clock and a full-screen mode keep it readable from across the desk.

01 How to

How to use the stopwatch for studying

  1. Pick a subject

Choose what you are working on, or add a subject with its own color. You can change it while the stopwatch runs.

  2. Start counting

Press Start or hit Space. Pause for interruptions and resume when you are back: paused time is not counted. Prefer fixed blocks with breaks? Use the Pomodoro study timer. Want a set length without the breaks? Try the focus timer.

  3. Save the session

Press Save, or S, to add the time to your log with an optional note. Discard clears the stopwatch without saving.

  4. See your hours

Saved sessions appear in today’s log next to the stopwatch and in the Study Tracker.

02 Clock

A big study clock for your desk

Switch to Clock and the stopwatch becomes a large digital study clock: the time of day in 12-hour format, with the seconds beside it and today’s date underneath. Press F or the full-screen button and the clock fills the whole screen, in the light or the dark theme, so you can check the time at a glance without reaching for your phone.

If the stopwatch is running, its count stays under the time, so the study clock and the timer are on one screen. Like the stopwatch, the clock is free and needs no sign-up. Pick a theme under the buttons, and it becomes an aesthetic stopwatch, with rain or café sounds if you like. See them all on the aesthetic study timer. Need a countdown on a big screen instead? Try the fullscreen timer.

03 FAQ

Questions about the study stopwatch

How is a stopwatch for studying different from a Pomodoro timer?

A Pomodoro timer counts down fixed blocks with breaks in between. A stopwatch for studying simply counts up, which suits open-ended work like reading, labs or a long problem set. Both save to the same study log.

Does the stopwatch keep counting if I close the tab?

Yes. It remembers when you pressed Start, so the time is still right when you come back, even after closing the tab or restarting the browser. Only Pause stops the count.

Can I use it as a study clock?

Yes. Switch to Clock and it becomes a time clock for studying: the time of day in 12-hour format, large enough to read from across the desk in full screen.

What happens to very short sessions?

Anything under one second is ignored. Everything else is saved to the second, and you can edit or delete any session later in the tracker.

Is this digital stopwatch free, with no account?

It is free and needs no account. Sessions are stored in this browser; export a backup from the tracker to keep them safe or move them to another device.
